Tuesday Tasks
Reading
I read this article today.
It is about an 8 year old boy that had meningitis and had to have his legs and arms removed to save his life.
He had a dream to play soccer with the Tottenham Hotspur.
I don't think he is a hero because he just did it for himself he is inspiring thought because he reminds us anyone can do anything they want if they try and don't give up.
Writing
Today I had to write about the qualities of a hero. Also write about who I think are some heroes.
Maths
I practiced my division today by playing this game. I went backwards by turning the equals in to times and the division in to equals and then saw a pattern that it is going up each time starting with ones, then 10s then 100s.
I liked this game.
Te Reo Maori
Today I had to find out the names of at least 3 people in New Zealand who are Maori and are considered to be heroes.

Monday Tasks
Monday 24th August 2020
Reading: Who Is Jacinda Ardern?
Today we are learning about who Jacinda Ardern is.I read this article and this is what I now know about her.
Jacinda Ardern is the current Prime Minister.
She is the third female Prime Minister of New Zealand.
She joined politics when she was 17 because she didn't like seeing children without shoes or food.
She never gave up even though she lost the vote many times this has made her resilient.
I think she is not a hero because she is just doing her job.
Writing:
Today our task was to start thinking about heroes. I brainstormed ideas and wrote about my own qualities.
Maths:
We are learning about division. I watched some videos about different ways to solve division questions.
They were confusing. The way that I learnt it is to turn it around to a times table. Like 18 divided by 3 is the same as 3 times how many makes 18. Because I know lots of my times tables I know the answer is 6.
Te Reo Maori:
The Maori work for hero is tuatangata.

Pen Pal Letter
19.08.2020
Dear: Pen Pal,
My name is Ana.
I'm nine years old and I go to Edmund Hillary school.
I am a year five. I live with my Mum, Dad and my younger brother.
Do you have any siblings? If you do, are you older or younger?
I love animals and I love to play netball.
What is your favourite sport and animal?
My family and I are not from Auckland but are from Timaru in the South Island.
I was born in Timaru three weeks after my cousin Brianna.
We used to hate each other but as we got older we became best friends.
Edmund Hillary school is the third school I have been to.
My first school was Gleniti school in Timaru, my second school was in Tonga.
How many schools have you been to?
I am half Tongan and half pakeha.
My Dad is Tongan and my Mum is a pakeha.
Last year we went to Tonga to live there but it didn’t work out.
I wasn’t eating that much and my Mum got sunburnt and my brother went to the
hospital because he fell off his bike and got a cut.
It was really deep. We stayed in Tonga for about 4 months.
Then we came to live in Auckland.
Hope to hear from you soon
Take care in the lockdown
Best wishes
Ana
